Identify the fabric first
Check the garment care label before applying any treatment. Products intended for washable fabrics may not suit silk, wool, leather, upholstery or items marked dry-clean only. When directions allow, test the spray on an inconspicuous area and wait for the recommended time.
Blot instead of rubbing
Remove solids gently and blot excess liquid with a clean cloth. Aggressive rubbing can spread the stain or push it deeper into the fibers. Work from the outer edge toward the center, especially on small spots.
Follow the product clock
Pretreatment time matters. Too little time may not let the formula work; leaving it on longer than directed can also create problems. Use the label’s amount and timing, then wash according to the garment instructions.
Check before using the dryer
Heat can make some stains harder to remove. Inspect the area after washing and before machine drying. If the mark remains, follow the label for a second treatment rather than automatically increasing concentration or combining cleaners.
Keep combinations simple
Do not mix stain removers with bleach, ammonia or other cleaning chemicals unless the manufacturer explicitly instructs it. Ventilate the area, wash hands after use and keep household products away from children and pets.
Confirm the exact fabric compatibility, pack quantity and current directions on the bottle before use.
